Turn handwritten pages into editable text.

What is the Textable handwriting scanner?

The Textable handwriting scanner is an AI text-recognition (OCR) tool inside the Textable app. It converts a photo of handwritten or printed text into separate, editable lines. You review each line, fix anything it misread, and save the result as tasks in a list or as a note.

Step by step

How to scan handwriting to text with Textable

  1. Capture the page

Open the scanner and take a clear photo of the page, or import one you already have. Good light and a flat page give the best results.

  2. Take a quick second look

Each detected line appears as its own item. Lines Textable is less sure about are highlighted, so you can tap and correct them in seconds.

  3. Save it where it belongs

Add the lines to an existing task list, start a new list, or keep the text as a note. The original thought is now searchable.

What you get

Handwriting Scanner features

Everything Handwriting Scanner does today, in plain words.

Built for handwriting

Recognition is tuned for everyday handwritten lists and notes, not only printed documents.

Line-by-line review

Every line is editable before saving. Uncertain text is highlighted so nothing slips through.

Straight into a list

Send scanned lines to a task list as tickable items in one step.

Or keep it as a note

Save longer passages as a note you can search and edit later.

Clear scan allowance

See scans used this month in Settings. Free accounts can earn extra scans; paid plans include a monthly allowance.

Your text, your account

Scans are processed to extract text and saved to your private Textable account.

Why scan instead of retyping?

Many people still think best on paper. The problem starts after the meeting, when the page goes into a bag and the list never makes it into your phone. Scanning closes that gap: you keep writing the way you like, and Textable turns the page into text you can search, tick off and share.

Because scanned lines land directly in your to-do lists, a handwritten plan becomes a working checklist. Give a task a date and it also appears in your calendar.

Tips for accurate handwriting recognition

  • Use even light. Avoid strong shadows across the page.
  • Keep the page flat and fill most of the frame with it.
  • One item per line works best for task lists.
  • Always review important details such as amounts, phone numbers and dates before saving.

Textable is designed for everyday handwriting. Clear, reasonably spaced writing in good light gives the best results. Every line is shown for review, and uncertain lines are highlighted so you can correct them before saving.

Can I scan a photo I already took?

Yes. You can capture a new photo or import an existing image from your gallery, then review and save the extracted text.

How many scans do I get?

Registration is free. AI scans use scan credits or a paid plan’s monthly allowance. Free users can earn an extra scan by watching a short video. You can check scans used this month in Settings. See plans and pricing.

Where does scanned text go?

You choose. Save lines as tasks in an existing or new task list, or keep the text as a note.
